This guy nails it. The anti-gay movement in the United States is pathetic. The Christian right can no longer oppress black people, so they are going after gay people.
The conservative party is full of grumpy 80 year olds that are pissed off and just need something to hate. Hating gay people is a convenient outlet for all their rage.
I know I haven't posted here in awhile, but I'm going to start again because the "BARRACK OBAMA IS THE DEVIL PRAISE JESUS SCREW FAGGOTS" attitude at my college is really starting to piss me off. I need to talk to people that aren't morons. |
Just out of curiosity, how do you describe "fascism"? Don't you dare make The Rick Copeland call you a "youafasacist"...

The epithet "Fascist" is a very powerful accusation, and Bill O'Riely, while I severely disagree with his philosophies, isn't one. He doesn't promote many totalitarian ideals, he doesn't hold the same views on what type of mixed economy there should be nor does he seem to be that strong of a statist. Fascism and Homophobia aren't required to overlap in someone's political Ven diagram either, likewise with the Republican party. Are we so infused with this decade of bitter partisan divide that all we can see of the opposing parties are nasty and fictitious generalizations? Sure, some conservatives are just that- elderly people who can't adapt to a more progressive and liberal America. However, some of these conservatives are Dwight D. Eisenhower republicans, libertarians and constitutionalists who practice intellectualism and can accept compromises or alternative views without bickering incoherently. Contemporary Republicans like Bobby Jindal would be an example of that. Then we have this idea that the Christian Right all just gathers together to hate on those of African heritage and homosexuals. In small pockets, that may be true of their reactions to Blacks and in more predominant circles, homosexuality. Nonetheless, hate is a strong word and I don't believe a majority hold any hate toward either group. I would say there is a lot of ignorance and misunderstanding amongst the Christian Right when it comes to homosexuality but actual, vivid hate is a minority view. |
